Tools to Help You Quit Smoking

You've probably seen ads telling you that smoking is bad for your health. There's a reason why they're there, it's because it's true. Smoking can cause lung cancer and can even hurt the people you love.

This is why if you're a smoker, you should already start thinking of quitting as early as you can. You don't want to die early or be the cause of your loved one's peril, right?

If you're having problems quitting naturally, there are many stop smoking aids that can help you achieve your goal. The most popular product being the nicotine patch.

A big favorite for people undergoing nicotine replacement therapy, the nicotine patch is a square patch that contains controlled amounts of nicotine. You stick to your arm and let it work on slowly releasing nicotine to your system over a period of time.

You start off with a certain dosage and gradually lower it down until you can do without the patch altogether. When you've finally gotten to that point, then you know that you've already succeeded in quitting smoking.

If you're doubting the effectiveness of the nicotine patch, you'd be happy to know that it has been noted to double the chances of a smoker quitting the habit than they would going cold turkey.

Fighting for a Food Revolution

Have you ever heard of Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution show? It's all about Mr. Oliver's attempt to change the way children eat in schools.

The show is set in Huntington, WV which has been deemed the unhealthiest city in the US. About 45% of the population has been diagnosed with obesity and diabetes-related health concerns.

Poor food choices and unhealthy eating habits are among the biggest causes of both conditions, and fortunately enough, the world-renowned chef is set to help change that.

What better place to start this change than inside the schools and with the children, right?

Now, if a rich and popular chef is taking interest in making sure that we eat healthy and stay healthy, why aren't we? It's our health on the line and yet we're doing nothing to make sure that we live long and fruitful lives.

It's so funny how they even aired an episode where a school cook continues to be resilient to the changes Mr. Oliver is trying to implement.

Are we really trying to send out a message that we don't care for our health and that of our children?

How To Make Cold Turkey Work For You

Going cold turkey on smoking sounds easy in theory. But it is, in fact, the stop-smoking technique that has the highest fail rate because it doesn't use any smoking cessation products to help out with the withdrawal symptoms.

It's the withdrawal symptoms that usually lure the smokers back into the habit. Why, indeed, would you want to suffer from withdrawal when you can simply just light a stick again.

The answer is: It's for your own health and for the peace of mind of those who love you.

There's a way for you to make cold turkey work effectively. You can start by:

=> Familiarizing yourself with the withdrawal symptoms that may come so that you can find a workaround ahead of time,

=> Drinking lots of water to help flush out the nicotine from your system,

=> Counting slowly from 10 to 0 when the urge to smoke hits you.

=> Keeping a cigarette substitute handy just to have something to pre-occupy your hand and mouth with.

Then again, there's nothing like talking to a loved-one when you feel like you're about to lose to your cravings to get you back on track. So don't dismiss cold turkey just yet. Who knows, it might work successfully on you.

Quit Binging On Alcohol Right Now!

It's hard to quit alcohol drinking. While some people are aware of their problems, some are in denial and some are completely unaware of their problems. Many who've tried can attest to the fact that everyday is a struggle to go without liquor.

It's not easy to stay alcohol-free and fight the urge to take a sip, but there are easier ways to become alcohol-free:

1. Tell your friends and family what you're going through. They'll help you through your ordeal by keeping alcoholic beverages somewhere you cannot reach.
2. Make a list of why you're quitting alcohol drinking. This way, you can remind yourself of the bad things alcohol drinking causes and why you should stop.
3. Make a list of what you're going to get after quitting drinking. This will help you stay focused on what you're going to enjoy once you've kicked the habit.

How To Ease Into A Raw Food Diet

Healthy eating is fast becoming a trend. More people are seeing how bad fast food diets are and are considering switching to a healthier way of living.

One of the many options people are looking at is the raw food diet. It's becoming quite popular with a lot of people, but it's quite hard to ease into considering how different it is from the usual processed food that we eat.

Here are some tricks I picked up on how to slowly get into the raw food diet:

  1. Juice it up. If you're not a big fruit and veggie eater, why not try and drink it? Bring out your juicer and make yourself a tall glass of fruit or vegetable juice. You can never go wrong with apples, orange, carrot, or tomato as they are rich in nutrients that you can benefit from.
  2. Go organic. Organic foods are food grown without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides. These are actually a safer choice for people who are sensitive to chemical residue in food.

Don't be afraid to experiment with different raw foods. You've got a world of food choices to pick from, so go raw food crazy and start eating healthy.

Tips to Get 8 Straight Hours of Sleep

How many of you can honestly say that you've had eight straight hours of undisturbed sleep? You guys won't see me raising my hands because I believe it's been months since I've had a long and restful sleep.

Aside from my shifting work schedule, I point the blame at the noise and movement in and outside the house that's keeping me from sleeping straight.

I dug around for tips on how I can get the sleep I deserve and here are some of them:

-- > Keep an eye cover handy. These will be useful for when shadow and light keep alternating through your curtains or blinds. The light play can distract your eyes and keep you awake.

-- > Stash ear plugs in your bedside table. You can use it to block the noise off. If you're not comfortable plugging things in your ear, get a pair of comfortable ear muffs.

-- > If you can, have a quick word with the people in your household to avoid making loud noises or waking you up unless it's important. You need to make them understand that you too need your rest in order to stay healthy.

Isn't It About Time To Quit Smoking?

I recently got to watch the movie "Thank You For Smoking" while hanging out at a friend's house. It actually made me realize how smoking can be such a hassle to one's health.

Can you really think of any good thing that came out of smoking? Except for that part in the movie where Aaron Eckhart's character was saved from a nicotine patch overdose by the fact that he used to smoke, I can't think of any.

Smoking makes your breath, clothes, and hair stink. It leaves a brownish stain on your fingers and nails, and it could very well be the cause of your respiratory problems. So why smoke?

This vice is nothing but trouble, so before it puts your health in harms way, quit. It's not going to be easy if you've been at it for a long time. But in time and with a little help from your friends, you should be able to kick the habit.

When I was surfing the internet I stumbled on a site that is a highly advanced medical plan provider which caters online consultation services like ask a doctor online for health concerns in a secured real-time environment.
